So you're looking for a photographer? There is a lot that goes in to selecting a photographer, whether it be for a wedding, senior photos, a newborn baby, or just updating family portraits. Between the budget, the style, the location, and the personal connections, where do you start?

Let's be real, most people's first question is 'how much is this going to cost me?'

Budget is an important part of many of our life decisions. When you go into a store, if there isn't a price on something, you either pass it by, or ask questions...right? Photography should be the same way. I respect your budget, and I choose to be up front with pricing. I want you to know exactly what you're getting for exactly how much money. If you accept the price, GREAT-let's schedule something! If it's not right for you at this time, no problem!

Find someone who has a style and perspective that you LOVE

The second question you may be asking yourself is what you can expect as a result of your session. How will your images look in the end? Every single photographer has a unique style. Think of us as artists...because we are. No two photographers will shoot the same couple the same way and thats why there are so many of us! Find someone who has a style and perspective that you LOVE. If you are drawn towards super bright and light saturations of color, find that person! If you love character, great wide-scapes, deep saturated color, and candids...you're on the right page. [Let's book something] All that to say, don't find a photographer and then tell them the style of editing or perspective that you want...that's backwards and I promise, it won't work in your favor.

Great, you've booked a photographer within your budget and style preference, so now what do you wear? Well...that depends. My biggest piece of advice is to avoid matching everyone in the same colors or patterns. Your portraits are supposed to show who you and the people that you love are. Making everyone wear the same t-shirt or color doesn't allow their true personalities to shine. Rather than selecting one color, find a color SCHEME that compliments your season and location and let everyone find what suits them within it.

I have a more complete post with tips and tricks about what to wear and how to style your photo session here.

So once you've asked yourself these questions, if you are interested in booking a photo session, reach out and let's talk details!
